Project  Content: 

This study aims to understand the population shrinkage phenomenon in many small and medium-sized cities, and to explore inclusive and operative urban regeneration strategies and policies to respond the shrinking process. 

The main content of this research include:

First, to assess the condition of urban shrinkage, and then to deeply analyze the processes, causes and effects of population shrinkage in several types of shrinking cities. 

Second, to evaluate the effectiveness of existing urban regeneration theories and policies if they were moved to and applied in China’s shrinking cities. 

Fourth, to propose a series of urban regeneration strategies and policies for these cities to adapt the shrinking process, and so to make them dynamic and liverable.
