

The Urban Planning Technology division of SAUP aims to explore innovations in teaching and research in the field of Territorial and Spatial Planning in the new era. The division prepares students, researchers, and practitioners to better respond to new trends and requirements stemming from increasingly diversified data sources, rapidly evolving technologies, and continuously deepening interdisciplinary exchanges in Territorial and Spatial Planning. With these efforts, the division has made substantial contributions to building a novel technology system for Territorial and Spatial Planning with distinctive characteristics of Nanjing University. The Urban Planning Technology division currently has 11 faculty members, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 1 associate research professor, 1 assistant professor, 1 lecturer, and 1 postdoctoral fellow. The main research areas include big data and smart planning technology, digital planning technology, urban-rural ecological and infrastructure planning. The division has two provincial-level industry-university-research platforms: the Smart City Design Simulation and Visualization Laboratory of Jiangsu Province and Jiangsu Smart City Research Base. The division also hosts two university-level research platforms: Nanjing University-Western Sydney University Joint Laboratory for Virtual City and Environment and Digital City Planning and Engineering Technology Research Center of Nanjing University. The Urban Planning Technology division has conducted a series of innovative research in digital city planning, big data and smart city planning, urban-rural ecological planning, providing strong support for government decision-making. These efforts together produce substantial research impacts in the field.
